Gulf Coast tops TCC 11-3

TALLAHASSEE — The Gulf Coast baseball team picked up an 11-3 road victory over Tallahassee on Monday afternoon.

With the win, the Commodores improved to 25-20 overall and 7-14 in the Panhandle Conference, while the Eagles fell to 28-20 and 9-12 in league play.

Brett Wisely started on the mound for Gulf Coast and went all seven innings to get the win, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and a walk with nine strikeouts.

Chase Hatfield took the loss for the Eagles, giving up three earned runs on one hit and two walks in 2/3 of an inning in relief of starter Nolan Daniel, who exited a 3-3 game after five innings.

Wisely also had a big day at the plate for Gulf Coast, finishing 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBI, while Stevie Moffatt and Brycen Braswell each had two hits and two RBI.

Reid Halfacre was 2 for 4 with two runs and an RBI, with Kyler Hultgren going 1 for 2 with two RBI, and Brett Roberson 1 for 3 with a walk and two runs.

Ridge Abinsay led Tallahassee with two hits, while Cyrus Grimes was 1 for 3 with a home run and two RBI.

Gulf Coast blew the game open with a seven-run top of the sixth inning. An RBI sacrifice fly by Hultgren brought Justin Kelley to the plate to put the Commodores up for good at 4-3.

Braswell followed with an RBI single and Moffatt then doubled to left field to score Roberson and Braswell to make it 7-3.

Moffatt then scored on an RBI single by Halfacre, with Wisely capping the inning with a two-run home run to right field to make it 10-3.
