Gulf Coast baseball drops third game

St. John’s River defeated Gulf Coast State 10-0 in six innings on Thursday afternoon.

Gulf Coast State’s season-opening slide continued in the Commodores third game as the players failed to record a single hit in 21 appearances at the plate.

Pitcher Jack Guzek got the start, but was pulled after the Vikings scored seven times in the first two innings.

Frank Furey was up to the mound next and had a little more success as he allowed only four hits and three more scores in the next three innings.

Bubba Sangster 2 for 3 with RBI to lead St. Johns River State. His teammate Anthony Simonelli got the start for the Vikings and earned the win after pitching six inninngs.

The Commodores will return to action on Friday when the team faces Chattahoochee Valley.
