Commodores sweep Coastal Alabama South

PANAMA CITY — The Gulf Coast baseball team snapped a two-game losing skid with a doubleheader sweep of Coastal Alabama South on Wednesday at Frazier Field.

Gulf Coast won the first game 6-5 and the second 15-0 to improve to 10-7 on the season.

The Commodores trailed 5-0 through three innings in the first game, rallying to tie with a three-run home run by Dallen Leach in the bottom of the fourth and a two-run shot by Justin Kelley in the fifth.

They won in walk-off fashion with a run in the bottom of the seventh, with Mitch Landon leading off with a single, moving to second on a sacrifce bunt by Kelley and to third on an error, and then scoring on a single to right field by Cam Irvine.

Parker Dean got the win for Gulf Coast for two innings of scoreless relief in which he allowed one hit and two walks with three strikeouts.

Jon Allen also pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen in relief of starter Alex Lozado, who gave up five earned runs on six hits and a walk in three innings.

The Commodores made quick work of Coastal Alabama South in the second game, scoring 10 runs in the fourth inning for the mercy-rule win.

Lozado was 3 for 4 with two doubles, two runs, and three RBI, while Josiah Miller was 2 for 3 with a home run, two runs, and three RBI.

Irvine also had two doubles and an RBI with two runs, with Kelley going 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI.

Laiten Hudson started and got the win for GC, giving up one hit with four strikeouts in four innings.
