GC men top South Georgia Tech 65-49

PANAMA CITY — Gulf Coast’s men’s basketball team wrapped up an impressive December with its second win in as many days at the Gulf Coast Holiday Classic on Wednesday evening, knocking off South Georgia Tech 65-49.

 

Cobe Goosby had 20 points to lead the Commodores (13-5), with Donovan Franklin adding 17 points, and Davaris McGowens nine points and 14 rebounds.

 

The game was tied 30-30 at halftime, but the Commodores dominated the action in the second half, with Goosby and Franklin scoring 11 points each over the final 20 minutes of play.

 

Demario Beck led South Georgia Tech (11-7) with 12 points, with Corbyn Jackson adding nine points, and Torico Simmons eight.

 

The win puts Gulf Coast at 6-1 for December, giving the Commodores positive momentum heading into Panhandle Conference play, which begins Saturday with a trip to Marianna to face Chipola.
