Gulf Coast men fall, women stay perfect

Gulf Coast’s men’s basketball team suffered its second loss of the season Saturday, while the Lady Commodores added another lopsided victory Sunday to stay unbeaten.

 

The Commodores (4-2) fell to Georgia Highlands 89-69 in Barnesville, Ga., falling behind 42-27 at halftime. Jeremy Harris led Gulf Coast with 20 points and 13 rebounds, with Davaris McGowens adding 16 points and nine rebounds, and

Cobe Goosby 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

 

The Lady Commodores (4-0) had no trouble with LSU-Eunice on Sunday, cruising to a 105-54 victory at the Billy Harrison Field House.

 

Kristina King led all scorers with 27 points on 13-of-19 shooting and added seven steals, with Audrey-Ann Caron Goudreau scoring 10 points and grabbing 17 rebounds.

 

Maria Morales Castro added 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting and 3-of-7 from the 3-point line, while Raven Fox had 14 points and Shaterrika O’Neal 12. LaSonja Edwards also had nine points and 10 rebounds.

 

Both Chipola teams next play at Lurleen B. Wallace Tuesday, with the women starting at 5:30 p.m. and the men following at 7:30 p.m.
