BAY MINETTE, Ala. — The Gulf Coast men’s basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season with an 87-69 road victory over Coastal Alabama-South on Tuesday night.

Tyree Gibson led a balanced scoring effort for the Commodores with 15 points, followed by Will Robinson and Marlon Adams with 14 each, Daniel Kiely with 12, Quadree Smith with 11, and Myles McGregor with 10. Smith led Gulf Coast with 13 rebounds to go with two blocked shots, while Gibson had four assists and two steals.

Gulf Coast led 38-33 at the halftime break before pulling away in the second half thanks to an unselfish offensive attack that allowed for six players to reach double figure scoring.

“It’s probably the most balanced night we’ve had of our four games,” Commodores coach Jay Powell said. “Coastal Alabama came out and played really hard. We went into halftime and made a couple of small adjustments. The men came out (in the

second half) and Coastal Alabama kept playing hard, but we were able to wear them down and pull away.”

The Commodores return home Thursday to play host to Enterprise State at 6 p.m.
