Gulf Coast rips Red Devils

PANAMA CITY — The Gulf Coast men’s basketball team stepped out of Panhandle Conference play on Saturday and crushed Red Devils Basketball Academy 126-43.

The Commodores (14-4) were coming off of a 93-70 home loss to Pensacola State on Wednesday but got back on the winning track Saturday thanks to a balanced effort that saw eight players score in double figures.

Cam Holden led Gulf Coast with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists on 8 of 18 shooting from the field.

Grant Howard also scored 16 points, followed by Maurice Gordon with 15 points, Jacolbey Owens with 14, Davonta Cook and Jammy Pierre-Louis with 13 each, Travon Mayo with 12, and Kaylein Marzette with 11.

Jacolbey Owens also had five assists and six steals. The Commodores shot 50 percent from the field for the game, including 12 of 32 from the 3-point line.

Gulf Coast will return to Panhandle Conference play on Wednesday in Marianna against Chipola.
