Lady Commodores sweep Georgia Military

PANAMA CITY — The Gulf Coast softball team swept a doubleheader over Georgia Military on Saturday afternoon at Joe Tom King Field, winning by scores of 3-2 and 11-1 to improve to 18-8 on the season.

The Lady Commodores have now won eight games in a row. Brittany Crowson got the win in the first game, going six innings and allowing just two earned runs on eight hits and two walks, while Taylor Lee also pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Caroline Wooley put Gulf Coast ahead for good with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning to break up a 1-1 tie.

Belle Wolfenden and Summer Johnson each added two hits and a run for Gulf Coast, while Taylor Robinson also walked and scored a run.

The Lady Commodores cruised in the second game, out-hitting Georgia Military 13-3 and playing error-free softball while taking advantage of four Georgia Military miscues for the five-inning win.

Taylor Robinson went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBI, while Caroline Wooley also went deep and drove in three runs.

Summer Johnson was 2 for 2 with a double, two runs, and three RBI. Camryn Michallas also had two hits.

Lee went 4 2/3 innings in the circle to get the win, giving up just one unearned run on three hits and two walks with one strikeout.

The Lady Commodores will play another home doubleheader on Sunday against Southeastern Illinois College at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
