Lady Commodores win big, move to 11-0

PANAMA CITY — The Gulf Coast women’s basketball made it two wins in as many days with a 107-70 victory over Bossier Parish in the Visit Panama City Beach Classic on Saturday afternoon.

 

Kionna Jeter led the top-ranked Lady Commodores (11-0) with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Dominique Banks added 17 points and two blocked shots. Shayla Bennett had 15 points, five assists, and three steals, with Alexus Dye contributing 14 points and eight rebounds. Astou Gaye had 13 points. Jhileiya Dunlap finished with eight points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, and five blocked shots.

 

Ashlyn Jacobs led Bossier Parish with 20 points, followed by Savannah Thomas with 14, and Monette Bolden and Tyra Kidd with 10 each. It was a tight game after one quarter with GC holding just a six-point edge, but the Lady Commodores blew the game open by outscoring Bossier Parish 25-16 in the second quarter and 53-31 in the second half.

 

Gulf Coast will play two more games next weekend in Americus, Ga., against Shelton State and South Georgia Tech before opening Panhandle Conference play Jan. 6 at home against Tallahassee.
