GC teams to make home debut vs. LBW

PANAMA CITY — The Gulf Coast men’s and women’s basketball teams will make their 2018-19 home debut Nov. 27 with a doubleheader against Lurleen B. Wallace.

 

GC teams have spent their early season schedule on the road while the Billy Harrison Field House undergoes renovations from damage suffered during Hurricane Michael. The Lady Commodores have started the season 3-0 and the Gulf Coast men are 4-1.

The women will tip off against Enterprise State at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7 p.m.

 

Davis named Player of the Week

 

Lady Commodores freshman Brittany Davis was named the NJCAA Region 8 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Wednesday.

 

Davis, a 5-foot-9 guard from Manchester, Ga., averaged 22.5 points, six rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 3.5 steals in wins over Vincennes and Palm Beach State. She also made 14 of 27 shots from the field, 9 of 18 from the 3-point line, and 8 of 11 from the free throw line. She has scored 20 or more points in all three of her games this season.

 

Gulf Coast plays again this weekend in Vincennes, Ind., with games Friday against Wabash Valley and Saturday against Vincennes.
