Volleyball incoming class


All of the incoming Freshmen had a very productive 2019 season.  

Hadley Barfield finished her 2019 season with 271 Kills, 19 Blocks, 243 Digs, 33 Aces, 5 Assists and 2.4 Digs per set.  The 5’9” Outside Hitter from Sneads High School was awarded the Best Offense Award and helped her 2019 teammates win the State Championship .

Peyton Chambers, 5’6” Setter from Niceville High School,  accumulated 8.7 Assists per set, 780 Assists, 34 Aces, 245 Digs and 5 Kills during the 2019 season.  Chambers finished her high school career earning the 2019 Niceville High School MVP, 2019 1st Team All-District, 2019 Subway All-Star Team, and the 2019 Subway All-Star Community Service Award. 

Sarah Duckett hails from Fort Walton Beach.  Duckett earned the 2019 Fort Walton Beach High School Player of the Year Award.  The 6’2” Middle Hitter/Opposite collected 63 Total Blocks, 32 Aces, 47 Digs, 8 Assists and 232 Kills during her senior year at Fort Walton Beach. 

Kaylan Gunning and Reece Rhodes join fellow Arnold High School Alumni and current GCSC Volleyball player Anna Merrill Goolsby.  Gunning, a 5’2” Setter, finished her 2019 season with 334 Assists and 31 Aces.  She also earned a spot on the 2019 All County 1st Team.  Rhodes is a 5’8” Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist who earned MVP during the 2016, 2017 and 2019 seasons.  During her 2017 & 2019 seasons, Rhodes was awarded the Arnold High School Offensive Award and 1st Team All-County.  Rhodes also played for Mosley High School during the 2018 season and earned 1st Team All-County.  Rhodes finished her senior year with 142 Kills and 2019 Digs.

Sarah Shuler joins fellow Blountstown High School Alumni and current GCSC Volleyball player Emma Richards.  Shuler, a 5’9” Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist, earned the 2019 District 2 1A Player of the Year, 2019 Offensive Player of the Year and participated in the FACA All-Star Game..  She finished the 2019 season with 211 Kills, 12 Blocks, 228 Digs, 54 Aces and .140 Hitting Percentage.

Kemari Smith joins the Gulf Coast State College Volleyball program after playing for Valdosta High School.  The 6’0” Attacker, a Georgia native, finished her high school playing career with 177 kills, 140 Solo Blocks and 19 Aces with a hitting percentage .535.  Smith earned the 2018 and 2019 GHSA 6-AAAAAA All-Region 1st Team honors. 

5’7” Defensive Specialist Ashtyn Tilton played four years for Florida State University Schools earning 2016-2019 Student Scholar Athlete, 2017-2019 Stat Leader in Digs, 2017-2019 Stat Leader in Serve & Receive, and the 2017 Attitude, Commitment and Excellence (A.C.E.) Award.  Tilton accumulated 22 Aces, 446 Serve Receptions, 286 Digs, 3.1 Digs per set and 56 Assists during her senior year.
