For Immediate Release/GC Athletics: Lady Commodores Volleyball team finish Conference season play as Sun Lakes Conference Co-Champions

The Lady Commodores finished their Conference season (8-2) as Sun Lakes Conference Co-Champions tied with St. Johns River.  This past weekend the ladies hosted Pasco-Hernando State College and South Florida State College in the Billy Harrison Field House.  They won against both teams, Pasco-Hernando State College (25-18, 26-28, 27-25, 25-23) and South Florida State College (25-16, 22-25, 19-25, 25-16, 15-5).  The Lady Commodores final game of the regular season will be played Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in the Billy Harrison Field House vs. Andrew College at 6pm.

The 2019 Sun Lakes Conference Gulf District Championship will be held in Avon Park, FL on the South Florida State College campus Nov. 2nd-3rd.  The Lady Commodores are seeded as #1 for the tournament which was decided through the Set Percentage tie breaker.  During the two matches played vs. St. Johns River, the Lady Commodores won four sets out of the sevens sets played.  The first match for the Lady Commodores will be 4:30PM EST on Nov. 2, 2019 vs. the winner of the South Florida State College/Pasco-Hernando State College match which will be played at 11:30AM EST on Nov. 2, 2019.

OCALA — The Gulf Coast volleyball team opened its season with four matches in the Central Florida Invitational and finished 2-2 with wins over Florida Gateway and Pasco-Hernando and losses to Miami-Dade and College of Central Florida.

It would be something of an understatement to say Scott Allen’s first season as head coach at Gulf Coast didn’t go exactly according to plan.
