Commodores face a familiar opponent in game 5
Port Charlotte, FL – The Commodores are moving on in the 2025 FCSAA DI Baseball Championship after a thrilling 7-6 victory over the #5 seed and 22nd nationally ranked State College of Florida. With the win, Gulf Coast will now face a familiar opponent—#6 seed and 24th ranked College of Central Florida—on Sunday, May 11 at 10am est in Game 5 of the tournament.
vs. State College of Florida:
The Commodores came out strong in the bottom of the first inning when Andrew Johnson drew a walk. Jackson McKenzie capitalized with a double to right field, scoring Johnson and putting Gulf Coast up 1-0 early. However, SCF's bats came alive in the top of the fourth, plating five runs to take a 5-1 lead.
Bray Touchstone sparked the Commodores' comeback in the bottom of the fifth with a towering three-run home run over the left-field fence, closing the gap to 4-5. Touchstone wasn't done—he launched his second home run of the game in the bottom of the seventh to tie it 5-5.
SCF edged ahead in the top of the eighth, making it 6-5, but Gulf Coast wasn't finished. Brody Langlotz led off the bottom half with a single to center, followed by a double from Carrington Aaron that advanced Langlotz to third. Colton Wombles then delivered a clutch sacrifice fly to right field to bring in Langlotz and tie the game. Johnson followed with a single to center, scoring Aaron and giving the Commodores the final lead at 7-6.
The Commodores held strong in the top of the ninth to seal the win and keep their postseason hopes alive.

- Marcum (relief): threw one and two-thirds innings of no-run ball, giving up two hits while striking out two.
