Ainsley Stubbs was nearly unstoppable on the mound. She pitched a complete game, striking out 10 batters, and only allowed three hits and one run the entire game.
Stubbs didn't just pitch well — she also made one of the most exciting defensive plays of the game. In the 6th inning, with the score 2-1 and a runner on first, TSC tried to bunt the ball, popping into the air, and Stubbs made a diving catch, then quickly got up and threw the ball to first base in time for a double play, stopping Tallahassee from scoring again.
Meanwhile, Cailyn Cooke had a fantastic game behind the plate and with the bat. She went 2-for-4 at the plate, getting two hits and driving in two RBIs. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Cooke hit a solo home run over the left field fence, giving the Lady Commodores an early 1-0 lead.
The last part of the game had fans on the edge of their seats. In the top of the 7th inning, Tallahassee State had a chance to tie the game, with only one out and a runner on third base, TSC hit a fly ball to the left fielder Macy Robinette, catching the ball then threw a perfect, powerful throw from the outfield straight to home plate. The throw got there just in time to Cooke who tagged the runner out at home stopping TSC from scoring, ending the game and locking in the 2-1 win for the Lady Commodores!
