Clearwater, FL – The Lady Commodores are advancing to Game 3 of the 2025 FCSAA DI Softball Championship after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Miami Dade.
The game remained scoreless through six innings, with both teams locked in a pitching duel. The deadlock was finally broken in the top of the 7th when Kali Austerman blasted a solo home run over the left-field fence, giving Gulf Coast the decisive lead.
Miami Dade was unable to respond in the bottom half of the inning, as the Lady Commodores' defense held strong to close out the game.
Pitching was dominant on both sides. Miami Dade's Carina Amarilla pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits and one run over seven innings, while striking out eight and walking three. Gulf Coast's Stubbs matched her effort with her 12th complete game and fifth shutout of the season, allowing only two hits and no runs, striking out five and walking two.
