June 27, 2025
Please join us as we welcome our new Softball Assistant Coach, Shellie Littlefield.
Gulf Coast State College Softball has a new assistant coach, as announced by Head Coach Scot Thomas. " I am very excited to have Shellie as my new full-time assistant. She did a great job at Coastal Alabama as a player as well as the University of Mobile before injuries became an issue." Littlefield will primarily be in charge of the pitching staff and the strength and conditioning program, along with other assigned tasks that include recruiting, etc. "Shellie has strong ties in the wiregrass area of Alabama and will be a huge piece in the recruiting and evaluation process." said Thomas.
Littlefield is a Dothan, Alabama native and a 2022 graduate of Rehobeth High School. She went on to play at Coastal Alabama- Bay Minnette, where she pitched 364.2 innings, with a 2.99 ERA and only a .259 batting average against in her 2 years there. She was 1st team All South as a freshman and 1st team All-Conference her sophomore year. A high academic student, she made JUCO Academic All American both years at Coastal. She then went to the University of Mobile and struggled with injuries, forcing her to make the decision of stepping away from playing.
"I am truly honored and excited to join the Gulf Coast State program and lead alongside one of the best coaches around. I am grateful to Coach Thomas for this opportunity and can't wait to get to work! Go Dores!" said Littlefield of her hiring.
Littlefield succeeds Brittany Crowson, who has taken a job at Bozeman High School in Bay County as the Head Varsity Softball Coach here in Bay County.
