Lady Commodores split with #3 NWF
Panama City, FL-The Lady Commodores earned a strong 7-3 win over #3 Northwest Florida State during game 1.
Northwest Florida got on the board first in the top of the second inning with an RBI single, and added another run in the third hitting a solo home run to left field to take a 2-0 lead. Gulf Coast State responded in the bottom of the fourth inning after Ally Henderson hit a double that drove in two runs giving the Lady Commodores a 3-2 lead. From there the Lady Commodores stayed in control and pulled away for the win. Natalie Cole earned the victory in the circle, throwing a complete game, allowing only six hits and three runs, only one earned, over seven innings. Cole also struck out five and did not issue a walk. The Lady Commodores collected 12 hits in the game, with Ella Grace Kelley leading the way, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Tylaya Lingo, Jaidyn Ivey, and Lilly Land each added multiple hits, while Ally Henderson drove in two runs from the leadoff spot.
The Lady Commodores fell in Game 2, 15-5, as Northwest Florida used big innings to take control of game 2.
Gulf Coast State scored first in the opening inning when Aaisa Scerbo singled to bring in a run. However, Northwest Florida answered in the third inning to take a 3-1 lead. The Raiders broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring six runs on four hits. They added five more runs in the seventh inning to extend their lead. At the plate, Baylor McCluney, Ainyah Stokes, Lilly Land, and Aasia Scerbo each drove in one run for Gulf Coast State. Scerbo led the team with two hits, going 2-for-4. Madison Laiche, pitched seven innings, allowing ten runs, five earned, on twelve hits. Carter earned the win for Northwest Florida, giving up four runs on five hits over four and two-thirds innings.
