NJCAA DI Women's Basketball National Championship
The Gulf Coast State Lady Commodores are headed to the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship after an exciting victory over Chipola in the FCSAA Division I Women's Basketball Region 8 Tournament. With the win, Gulf Coast captured the 2026 Region 8 Championship, ending a seven year drought without a regional title.
The Lady Commodores earned the #11 seed in the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship and will face #22 seed Gillette in the opening round on March 25 at 4:45 pm in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Gulf Coast's last national championship came in 2019 under head coach Roonie Scovel.
Now in his fifth season leading the Lady Commodores, Head Coach Rory Kuhn has built a strong record at Gulf Coast State. Including the current season, Kuhn holds a career record of 112–36 with the Lady Commodores, giving him an impressive .757 winning percentage.
