Lady Commodores set to compete at FSU Invite in Tallahassee
The Gulf Coast State College Women's Cross Country team will travel to Tallahassee, Florida, on Friday, September 26, to compete in the 2025 FSU Invite. The meet will be held at Apalachee Regional Park, the same venue that will host the 2025 FCSAA Cross Country Championships on October 24. The invitational serves as a valuable preview for the Lady Commodores as they will line up against most of their Region 8 opponents who are also scheduled to compete at the state championship next month. Region 8 teams expected to be in attendance include Daytona State, Eastern Florida, Lake-Sumter, Pasco-Hernando, Seminole, Tallahassee, and South Florida.
Last season, the Lady Commodores posted a strong performance at the 2024 FSU Invite, finishing with an average team time of 21:57.02. Adriana Cruz-Betancourth led the squad with a time of 21:26.4, followed by Katelynne James at 22:03.3 and Bailey Martinek at 22:13.2. Keiley Hickman crossed in 22:35.3, while Madison McMillan finished in 23:48.7 and Hannah DaCosta in 23:54.1.
The FSU Invite offers the team an important opportunity to gauge their progress this season while gaining familiarity with the championship course. With a competitive field and several key Region 8 rivals on the starting line, the Lady Commodores will look to build momentum as they continue their journey toward the FCSAA Championships in October.
